The RAH LLC. - Remanufacturing Division
Relying on experiences of many decades the Remy decided to join this branch of business also in Europe. Considering the results in Hungary so far, reached by the Autovill, and the high manpower requirements of the sector, the RI decided to establish a plant in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Hungary, doing this with the conviction that relying on the ability and skills of the labor force here and the potentialities of the economic environment, it will be able to produce uniquely marketable, top quality products and achieves an intensive breakthrough on the market.
In 1998, the Remy announced that they were going to create a reconstructing capacity, producing about half a million starters and alternators. At the same time the RI invested the necessary 4270 m2 green-field at the Repülotér street.
The creation of the nearly 9000 m2 complex has been begun in December, 1998. The American corporation takes responsibility with this investment in developing the infrastructure of the area.
At first, half of the planned buildings have been realized by October, 1998. The value of this 5500 m2 factory-office complex with the equipment is about 1.5 billion Ft.
The production has started in July, 1999. The capacity of the factory is about a quarter million units per year, and it employs 250 operators.
After the realization of the second stage the factory is employ about 400 operators.
It is important to notice that the human-resources-strategy of Remy is accompanied by a Hungarian management. It is not hidden goal that Miskolc is going to be the center of Remy in Europe, because the full capacity of the factory is going to exceed half a million units.
More than 10 million new light duty vehicles are constructed all over the world in a year, while the number of the already working vehicles reaches more than a hundred thousand. This huge stock of vehicles produces a formidable amount of parts out of gear.
These broken parts can only be sort out, recycled and re-smelt with using incredible amounts of energy. Collecting and analyzing systematically these broken parts, using the appropriate technology, big proportion of built-in materials and parts of the broken products can be regenerated and recycled (about 70-80%). This mechanism involves environmental protection and economic benefit.
It is a determinative practice in North-America, especially in the rich United States. More than 70% of the replacements’ market is given by our branch of industry.
During the last 10 years small European companies and the monopolies of the continent have discovered the outstanding prospects of the sector and an extraordinary development has started. Nowadays, 38% of the European light duty vehicles starter and alternator replacement sale comes from the technological reconstruction.
Further positive consequence is derived from the rapid development of this branch. Because of pollution in traffic the used aggregators must be remanufactured under strict conditions. The impurities can be neutralized with these modern technologies in a faster way under the actual circumstances.
After repairing, remanufacturing and replacing the parts the assembled complete units meet the requirements of the same final-check as the new ones.
The reconstructing technology involves aesthetic package, well-arranged, trade-like storing and transportation.
